Sam Smith – Politics is not a religion. It is not a test of your virtue. It is a sloppy, corrupt, inadequate way of moving a few steps forward or back. Other than making you feel smugly better, treating it as a personal moral act is a waste of time that also doesn’t help get the best practical solution.
Elections do not create change. They reflect change. They are the scorecard of which way we’re headed and how effective our efforts have been. The candidates in such an election are rarely the leaders of these efforts, only beneficiaries.
And no matter who wins we will have to produce even more change before the next election.
So consider yourself choosing the best battlefield rather than the best religion. In this case, Joe Biden.
