“Liar, liar…”

In his letter to the editor, “False praise for Stefanik,” (Adirondack Daily Enterprise, June 4, 2022) Steve Erman underscores Elise Stefanik’s ploy of routinely taking credit for government initiatives that she voted against. That’s how she rolls, folks, that’s how she rolls.. — wfw

In a letter to the editor printed on June 2, (“Grant funding for Upward Bound is good news,”) Ian Clark of Canton praises Congresswoman Elise Stefanik for delivering over $900,000 in grant funding to North Country colleges from the Upward Bound Program. What is not said is that the 2022 funding authorization for Upward Bound was part of a larger package of college financial aid measures which were authorized through the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2022, H.R. 2471. This funding bill was voted on by the House of Representatives on March 9. Congressional records clearly show that Elise Stefanik led her Republican colleagues in opposition and Stefanik voted no.

Once again, we have a case in which our member of Congress is given credit for delivering important funds for NY-21 while she actually voted against the legislation authorizing the program.

I am all for applauding those members of Congress, Republicans and Democrats, who honestly work on behalf of their constituents; however, in this case, Elise Stefanik is being praised for delivering funds from a measure that she did her very best to eliminate.
